Summer Weight Information

Fitness for Life Class 2019

For all students that attend or will attend Monett High School and Monett Middle School

You can earn ½ PE credit if you complete 60 hours through a combination of skill development and Lifting sessions. (3 hours are available each day Monday through Thursday, HS only)

 

June - Students will be in Class Monday, June 3st through Thursday, June 27.

Break - We will take a week off June 28 through July 7. This is not the MSHSAA mandatory dead week.

July - Class will resume July 8 through July 25.

 

Class Schedule

Female Athletes (Grades 7-12) Middle School Weight Room

Only One Session

7:00 – 9:00am – Weights, Conditioning, Agility

Skill Development

9:00 – 10:00am- Skill Development

Fall Sports – Monday & Wednesday

Winter Sports - Tuesday & Thursday

 

Male Athletes (Grades 7-12) Monett High Weight Room

Session 1

7:00 – 9:00am - Weights, Conditioning, Agility

Skill Development

9:00 – 10:00am - Skill Development

Fall Sports – Monday & Wednesday

Winter Sports – Tuesday & Thursday

Session 2 (Male & Female HS and Middle School Combined)

10:00 – 12:00am – Weights, Conditioning, Agility

 

Purpose: To continue to improve muscular strength, agility and speed during the summer months.

 

 

Activities: Will include, but not limited to strength training, agility improvement activities, and speed training. Team individual competitions will also be played. Will include information on proper nutrition, different types of fitness activities (anaerobic and aerobic), muscle and bone identification, and prevention of injuries while training. Students will learn proper technique in weight room lifts.

 

Workouts: Workouts each day will include: speed training, strength and endurance training, and agilities.

 

Credit: Students grade 9-12 may receive ½ credit of PE/Health. Student will have to attend 60 hours of class.

 

You will be able to attend summer school and attend a weight class by attending the early session. You will be dismissed in time to attend class.
